On a terrible night seven
years in the past, the Joker attacks the two women at the
center of Batman's life: Catwoman and Barbara Gordon, who fought
at Batman's side as Batgirl. With Catwoman dead, Batman mysteriously
disappears from New Gotham. Barbara, now confined to a wheelchair,
redefines herself with a complicated double life: by day, she is
a teacher of computer sciences, but by night, she is "Oracle," a
master of cybernetics and weapons design, who monitors the activities
of New Gotham's criminals from her secret lair in the city's Clocktower.
Barbara takes under her wing the secret daughter of Catwoman and
Batman, young Helena Kyle. Helena has inherited Batman's strong
sense of justice, along with Catwoman's meta-human abilities. Although
she longs for a normal life, she quickly grows into the fierce and
beautiful "Huntress." The pull between good and evil is strong within
her, and Barbara knows she must guide Helena carefully.
Into the lives of these two remarkable women comes an innocent teenage
girl named Dinah who is drawn to the Clocktower by powerful, haunting
visions. Unsure of her background, but impressed by her budding
meta-human powers, the two crime-fighters take Dinah in, and the
trio is complete. They are now the "Birds of Prey."
What's up with Dina Meyer and Shemar Moore...
• This fall, Dina will be in theaters again in the horror-sequel, Saw II.
• Point Pleasant, the short-lived, supernatural TV-series Dina did a couple of years after Birds of Prey (which is not out on DVD), is coming to DVD in October! The DVD features the complete series of 13 episodes...5 more eps than were actually aired!! How's that for "bonus features"!! You can read more about the DVD here, and check out the box art here!! Pre-order the DVD set here!!
• Shemar Moore has a new series coming this fall, Criminal Minds, a thrill-a-minute drama about a group of "mind hunters," the elite squad of profilers in the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, who meticulously piece together portraits of killers and other major offenders, leading to what they hope will be the arrest of a prime suspect. The show, starring Mandy Patinkin and
Thomas Gibson, will air at 9PM ET/PT on CBS.
Birds of Prey -- finally on DVD?
TVShowsOnDVD.com heard about the NYTimes.com [free subscription required] story and inquired to Warner Home Video. There are no current plans to bring it to DVD. I think a letter writing campaign should be started to demand an apology from the writer of the article.
But that's just my opinion...
Birds of Prey -- finally on DVD?
• An article on NYTimes.com [free subscription required] announced the coming of the new DC Comics logo. The article mentions that the new logo will be: "featured on toys, direct-to-video cartoons, DVD releases of television shows like "Birds of Prey," and computer games."
The article is about DC Comics and their new logo, not about DVD releases...but it's just so odd they'd use "Birds of Prey" as the example.
**** Trying not to get too excited -- but i don't know if i can help it!!! ****
Still on in Canada!
• Oops, sorry! I wasn't looking hard enough. I was checking
Saturdays at 7PM and it's not on at that time anymore. But it still
is on at 11AM Saturdays. It also airs Tuesdays at 6AM and 12NOON.
These are Eastern Times. So you still get a chance to watch!!
• But Fox has taken down the Point Pleasant website. So
I guess that one is gone...
The end of an era...?
• Well, i'm not seeing any listings for Birds of Prey
on Showcase Action following the April 2 episode. So either they're
moving it to a different day and time...or stick a fork in 'em, they're
• Equally unhappy news for Dina Meyer's Point Pleasant
Marti Noxon, executive producer of Fox's struggling supernatural series
Point Pleasant, told SCI FI Wire that she and the writing
staff are crafting a season finale that will provide a sense of closure
in part because she doubts the show will get picked up for a second
season. The finale will leave some threads dangling, but will also
wrap things up for fans who tuned in to all 13 episodes. "I'm
pretty much counting on not coming back," Noxon said in an interview.
"Our numbers make [Fox's quickly canceled series] North Shore
look like a hit. That sucks, but I've gotten past the pain."
• And there are rumors going around that Shemar Moore
is leaving Young & Restless in the spring.
Kinda perplexed on the "official" title of DINA
MEYER's Wild Things flick.
If you catch it on the MYSTERY
channel, it's clearly titled Wild Things 3.
Over at amazon.com,
the DVD box art is labeled Wild Things: Diamonds in the
Rough. Why do they wanna do us like that? :)
Anyway, you have 4 more chances to catch it on the MYSTERY
channel through March. It's also available on Starz
On Demand until March 17.
And the DVD is availble for pre-order
DINA MEYER has slid under the radar

Men, has been airing on Canada's VISION TV since September.
It airs Wednesdays at 6PM & 11PM e.
