In the first episode of Birds of Prey, Ashley
Scott's alter ego, the Huntress, gives us a huge clue about
what we can expect this fall. Before leaping from a high-rise
building and fleeing across the rooftops of New Gotham, she
declares, "I am the weapon!" It's a job description Scott,
a Louisiana native, has been dreaming of ever since she started
modeling at 15. "In Dark Angel, I was the back burner
girl," explains Scott about her role as Asha. "Now, I feel
like I can finally kick some you-know-what."
My character is: "Sassy, smart and spunky."
Her M.O. right now goes something like this: "Helena
is rebelling against the whole supergirl stereotype. She's
actually pissed with the stack of cards she has been dealt.
She would rather be normal."
Secretly, the Huntress is: "A superhero at heart.
She gets a kick out of the fact that she tends bar by day
and saves the city of New Gotham from terrible villains by
night."
So far, the greatest physical challenge has been:
"Getting up at an ungodly hour to shoot. Ha! Just kidding.
Seriously, I trained for about a month in tae kwon do. That
was hard. I am not a gym person."
The biggest drawback to playing the Huntress is: "I
am actually a natural blonde. On camera, the Goth look is
cool, but in real life, when I wake up and look in the mirror,
it is not so sexy."

Ashley Scott landed her first series
regular role on The WB's action-adventure series Birds
of Prey. Scott played Helena Kyle (and her alter-ego,
Huntress), the beautiful daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selena
Kyle, better known as Batman and Catwoman.
Born in Metairie, LA, and raised in Charleston, SC, Ashley's
first taste of the spotlight was as a child model. By the
time she was a teenager, Ashley had moved to New York and
was modeling internationally, gracing the runways at fashion
shows in Miami, Paris and London.
When she decided to try her luck as an actress, Ashley
hit the big time right away. At her first audition, she
found herself doing a scene with Al Pacino. Although she
didn't get the role, Ashley was inspired to keep auditioning.
Her first big break came with a role in the television series
Dark Angel. Ashley played Asha Copeland, a Robin
Hood-type criminal, opposite series star Jessica Alba. She
then followed up with an impressive feature film debut in
Steven Spielberg's A.I.: Artificial Intelligence,
as Gigolo Jane opposite Jude Law.
Ashley currently resides in Los Angeles with her two pet
Australian tree frogs, Azul and Chunk. When not working,
she enjoys horseback riding, cooking and hanging out with
her friends. |
